Hind Bint Rabia
wore armour and a warrior.s mask in the Battle of Ahad and brandished her sword before plunging it with a moral thrust into enemy after enemy when she fought against Mohammed. Hind was an Arab woman who insisted on her freedom and on making her own decisions in personal life. She said to her father: .I am a woman who holds her life in her own hands and knows what she wants.. And her father answered: .So it shall be.. Hind was well known for her logic and quick wittedness, even in answering the Prophet. Together, with other women she stood before him and proclaimed their conversion to Islam. Mohammed spent some time going over the principles of Islam for their benefit. In the Battle of Badr, fought between the Muslims and the Koraishites (members of the tribe of Koraish who bitterly opposed Mohammed for a long time), Hind lost three men from her family. After this, she swore to avenge them and took an oath not to perfume herself or go near her husband until this was done. She kept her promise during the Battle of Ahad in which the Koraishites were victorious over Muslims.
