Fadia Faqir

Fadia Faqir was born in Amman, Jordan. She gained her BA in English Literature from the University of Jordan, Amman, before undertaking an MA in creative writing at Lancaster University. She completed her Ph.D. in creative writing at the University of East Anglia.

Her first novel, .Nisanit. was published by Viking/Penguin in 1990. .Pillars of Salt., her second novel was published by Quartet, it has also been translated into German and Dutch.

Faqir is general editor of the award-winning Arab Women Writers series published by Garnet Publishing and is also a lecturer and coordinator for the Project of Middle Eastern Women's Studies at the Center for Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies University of Durham.
